Hello!

My name is Kristy Kay—I’m a color-loving visual development artist, illustrator, and educator living in Los Angeles, CA.

As a multi-disciplinary artist, I’ve had the joy of contributing to animated feature films, games and series at studios like Netflix, Sony Pictures Animation, Paramount Animation, Nickelodeon, Warner Bros, and Mattel. In gaming, I worked as a Concept Artist on the VR incubator team at PlayStation. Beyond entertainment, I’ve created illustrations for clients such as Adidas Outdoor, Touchstone Climbing, and Women's Weekly Magazine.

I’m delighted to serve as Assistant Professor of Concept Art at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena and teach Visual Development at San Jose State University, where I’m passionate about mentoring the next generation of artists. In addition to teaching, I write and illustrate children’s books—crafting stories that celebrate creativity and the richness of real human experiences in an increasingly digital age. I am an active member of SCBWI.

When I’m not juggling creative projects, I enjoy hiking, sewing, and hanging with my sweet baby girl, Naomi. If you’d like to connect or discuss potential collaborations, you can reach me by email at KristyKdraws@gmail.com or find me on Instagram @Kristysketch.
